Crowsnest Pass Test Piece

Start in the sleepy town of Hillcrest Mines. I don't think anything has happend here since...well since a really long time. Switching the clocks twice a year is probably as much action as the locals can handle.

Crownsnest Pass mountain biking.
Keep on grindin' - the top is just around the corner.

Ride the Main road through town until you come to Adanac Road where you hang a right (always remember that this is a clockwise loop and you won't get too badly lost). Drop it in a low gear and start spinning your way up this gravel road until the 7 km mark at which time you are going to hang a right. At this point the ride changes radically. Instead of slowly grinding your way up a dirt road you will be slowly grinding your way up a dirt path.

Starting to look promising...

The scenery on this ride is quite unique. Sort of rolling foothills with tons of faint access roads that are gradually healing from the fires that swept through the area in 1999. There is no navigation from here on up so just settle into a comfortable rhythm and try to enjoy yourself. Hmm. Okay that doesn't work - focus on the downhill you are going to get once all this climbing comes to and end! Gidde up indeed...
