Skogan Pass - Ski Trail Only cont.

Epic Climb - Epic Descent

This trail is classic Kanaskis nordic track - about 6 feet wide and in great shape. The only turn to concern yourself with comes at about the 20 minute mark. Turn right here up to Skogan Pass. Left takes you to the mid-lodge half way up the ski hill. From here keep on grinding up until you hit an old cut block - you are almost there. At about the one-hour mark you will come to a fork in the trail - turn left onto the trail marked Ski Trail Only.

Grinding up means ripping down.

When we were there in July there weren't a lot of skiers to contend with so there wasn't much in the way of trail conflict. In fact it took us a good hour by bike to get to this point - I wonder who skis up here in the middle of winter to do this loop? Anyone??

When you hit a picnic table at the top you are there. Time for a breather and a Pop-Tart. Next, point it downhill and let 'er rip! Scream along making sure to keep the rubber side down. Gravity will take care of all other details. At the bottom of the cut block you will hit a left hand turn that traverses the mountain. At the end of this segment the trail forks and you have the potential to go left to Hummingbird Lookout - a worthy detour. From there this trail loops back onto the main trail and collects at the bottom of the mountain.
